Giger AI Workshop is a deep dive into biomechanical aesthetics and visionary form-making, inspired by the haunting surrealism of H.R. Giger. This hands-on workshop fuses cutting-edge AI generative tools — including MidJourney, ChatGPT, and Hunyuan — with advanced computational design platforms like Rhino and Grasshopper, enabling participants to craft objects, spaceships, architectural elements, and ornamental patterns that pulse with otherworldly life.
In the first part of the workshop, participants will harness the creative power of large language models and image diffusion engines to ideate and generate initial concepts. Through prompt engineering and iterative refinement, students will explore the language of Giger’s universe — sinewy structures, biomechanical textures, and anatomical surrealism — translated into compelling visual material.
No prior experience with AI or coding is required
Software requirements
Rhino 8
Access to MidJourney/ChatGPT or any other image generation software
The second part focuses on transformation: using Rhino and parametric modelling in Grasshopper, participants will reinterpret and reshape their AI-generated artefacts into 3D designs. Whether it's a haunting alien cathedral, a living machine, or a speculative structure, the workshop bridges the imaginative capabilities of artificial intelligence with the precision and control of computational design.
